Now Showing: Social App
Despite social media’s ability to connect any two people, wherever they may be, the online world can begin to feel somewhat disconnected because of its vastness. To diminish this feeling, many people seek for specific online groups they can relate to, in order to share their experiences.
Now Showing was created to connect Black creatives in the Chicago area, giving a space for promotion, sharing, and support during a time where racial tensions were heightened in many metropolitan areas.
With features including an image-based feed, collection capabilities, and personalized recommendations, Now Showing creates an encouraging experience for creatives to showcase their work in a tight-knit community that is free of unfavorable algorithms and global competition.
The process.
Created in Adobe XD, the prototype contains an example home feed, explore page, search function, and profile for a proto-persona, Kendall Williams. Through various interviews and other methods of research, my hope was to accurately represent and serve a niche community within the prototype.
